Does Arlo Video Doorbell work with Alexa?

I've been using Arlo cameras for years, and because their image quality is good, I never thought to replace them.


But, cameras are often not enough to secure your house and therefore you wanted to have a doorbell at that time.


Arlo recently released a video doorbell and I wanted to get it, but I thought I'd do some research first to find out if it Arlo Account Support Alexa from Techno Beasts or not.






So does the Arlo video doorbell work with Alexa? Yes, all previous Arlo devices come with Alexa enabled and so does the Arlo Video Doorbell. With a 180-degree wide-angle view and a 1:1 aspect ratio, you can see everything delivered to your doorstep. In addition to the optimized view of the front door, you also receive alerts for every motion detection, night vision, and a built-in siren. The doorbell must be wired so you can do it yourself or even contact a professional installer for any assistance required. Since the doorbell can be used by connecting it with existing doorbell wires, I thought I'd make it myself. But, if you are new to this, please follow the installation process below.


How to install Arlo Video Doorbell?


You will receive instructions on how to install the Arlo Video Doorbell with your device.

But that is not enough for a person who is doing this for the first time.


I had the problem during the installation and therefore I thought you should look for the same things that I did during the installation of my Arlo doorbell.


There are certain things you need and I would say keep them handy.


These are a screwdriver, a power drill, and all the components of the input tray, such as the Arlo power kit, brackets, and screws.


Before installing your actual video doorbell, you would need to install the Power Kit.


The power kit is necessary to maintain the required constant flow of voltage to the doorbell.


However, you should know that sometimes your doorbell rings on its own, which is also a reason for the insufficient voltage that the doorbell keeps getting.


Is your doorbell compatible with the Arlo Video Doorbell?

  1. It is very necessary to check whether your existing doorbell is compatible with your doorbell or not.
  2. For this, just locate your doorbell and check if it is wired, wired, and battery or battery only.
  3. If your doorbell is wired or battery-powered, then it is compatible with your doorbell.
  4. However, the battery-only doorbell cannot be used with the Arlo Video Doorbell.
  5. Always make sure to keep the doorbell voltage between 16V and 24V.

Install the power kit

The first thing you have to do is turn off the power supply to your entire house.
  • Take out the power kit and go to the doorbell box location.
  • Open the chime box lid and connect the wires from the power kit to the chime box terminals.
  • Place the power kit securely in your doorbell box, but make sure it doesn't interfere with other parts of the doorbell box.

You are now ready to begin the installation with the doorbell.

Installing the Arlo Video Doorbell

Installation of the Arlo Video Doorbell is quite easy and with little electrical skills, you can comfortably do it yourself.

If you have an existing doorbell, you will need to remove the existing doorbell.

  • Then open the screws on the existing doorbell and pull out the doorbell wires.

  • Be sure to tape both wires to the wall so they don't go inside the wall.

  • Now take out the mounting shim that came with the chime and install it with the screws.

  • You can also install the doorbell without the mounting wedge, but with the mounting wedge, you can tilt the doorbell according to the view you need.

  • Now it's time to turn on the power supply for your entire house.

  • Arlo's doorbell LED will now be white.

  • Open your Arlo app for pc and connect your video doorbell to WIFI with a speed of 2.4 GHz.

Your Arlo doorbell has been successfully installed and you can start using it as you like.


Connecting your Arlo doorbell to Alexa


Arlo's doorbell integration with Alexa makes a lot of things easier.


Who doesn't love a smart home where you can control everything with your voice? I think we all want this and therefore we continue to buy devices that make our lives easier.


But before you connect your Arlo doorbell to Alexa, you need to make sure the doorbell is set to silent mode.


Don't panic, if you have no idea how to do this, I'm here to help!


Enabling silent mode on the Arlo Video/Audio doorbell


The following method works for the Arlo Video Doorbell, Audio Doorbell, and Arlo Doorbell.

  • Open the official Arlo website or just launch the app on your phone.

  • Easy way to reset Arlo Login to your account.

  • You would see the devices that are connected to your account,

  • Now click on Video Doorbell and move the slider from right to left.

  • Your device is now in silent mode.

If you want your doorbell to ring even when the doorbell is on silent mode, you need to move the sliders on your doorbell to the right.


Once the video doorbell goes into silent mode, you can now start connecting your doorbell to Alexa.

You can follow the steps below to connect your Arlo video doorbell with Alexa:

  • Download the Alexa app and make sure the Arlo skill is enabled.

  • If the Alexa skill is not enabled, search for "Arlo Skill" and click "Enable Skill" to connect Arlo with Alexa.

  • You can also ask Alexa by saying "Alexa, enable the Arlo skill."

  • This will send instructions in your app to connect Arlo and Alexa.

  • Once "Arlo Skill" is enabled, go to device settings and make sure Do Not Disturb is set to Off.

  • Now to enable the Arlo video doorbell on Alexa.

  • Open the Alexa app and click Devices on the bottom right screen.

  • Go to All Devices and select your Arlo Video Doorbell from the list of devices.

  • Now the settings page will open.

  • You have to move the slider for Doorbell press to the right, which you will find under the first option DOORBELL ADS.

  • wow!! Your Arlo Video Doorbell is now connected to Alexa, and you'll hear additional announcements from your Alexa device when someone presses the doorbell.

The Arlo Video doorbell currently works only with Alexa from Tecno Beasts.

However, all Arlo cameras work with Apple HomeKit, and so we think an update will be coming soon that will allow you to connect with Apple HomeKit.
